Description:
This course is BTSA Induction Standard 16 approved. Do you have a digital camera! What can you use it for besides making Mother's Day cards? We will explore using digital photography and images to support and enhance instruction in language arts, ESL, math, and science. Learn how to use Web 2.0 tools with your students to create, communicate, and collaborate.
Teachers will learn how to collect a variety of sources, organize their information, and present their findings via a multimedia presentation. This course will also assist in unit planning, managing classroom activities, and delivering differentiated instruction to all students.
Participants will need access to a digital camera and a computer outside of class in order to complete the assignments. Check to see if your school has a camera you can use.
Prerequisites:
Participants should have “intermediate” computer skills:
• Be comfortable with basic operations of a computer
• Open and use software programs
• Be able to navigate the Internet
• Be abile to work with two or more applications simultaneously
• Create, navagate, and save files to a folder or directory
• Have a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Have access to a digital camera
Objectives:
Participants will integrate research skills into their instruction. Understand how it will meet the needs of the diverse students. How to embed tehnology seemlessly to enhance and expand the student's ability to gather and present their information. Participants will become familiar with workings of a digital camera, image processing software, and how to place photos into documents and presentation programs. Participants will identify ways to integrate the use of photography in their teaching and develop a lesson that incorporates photography. Participants will teach the lesson, reflect on it and share it with their colleagues.
